Case let 17:
In a ship, there are 1200 passengers.18% of the total number of passengers are from Britain. Two-fifth of the total number of passengers is from South Arfrica.6% of the total number of passengers are from Madagascar. The remaining number of passengers is from India.25% of the number of passengers from Britain is female.
Half the number of passengers from South Africa is male. There is no female passenger from Madagascar. Two-third of the number of passengers from India is females.

Data Analysis and Data Interpretation of given Case let :
 Total passengers in ship = 1200

Passengers from Britain ( British Passengers):
Total number of British passengers =18% of total passengers = 18/100 x 1200 =216
Number of female British passengers = 25% of total British passengers = 25/100 x 216 = 54
Number of male British passengers = 216 – 54 = 162

Passengers from South Africa  :
Total number of South African  passengers =2/5 of total passengers = 2/5 x 1200 =480
Number of male South African  passengers =1/2 of  South African  passengers= 240
Number of female South African  passengers =1/2 of  South African  passengers= 240

Passengers from Madgascar :
Total number of passengers from Madagascar = 6% of total passengers = 6/100 x 1200 = 72
Number of male Madagascar passengers = 72
Number of female Madagascar passengers = 0

Passengers from India :
Number of Indian passengers = 1200-(216+72+480) =432
Number of female Indian passengers =2/3 of total Indian passengers = 2/3 x 432 = 288

In a college, 150 students of MBA are enrolled. The ratio of boys to girls is 7: 8. There are three disciplines, namely Marketing, HR, and Finance in the college. In Marketing discipline, there are 50% girls of their total number and the boys are 40% of their total number.
In HR discipline, girls are 30% of their total number, while boys are 30% of their total number. Finance discipline has girls 20% of their total number, and the boys are 30% of their total number. 7 boys and 9 girls are in HR and Marketing both. 6 boys and 7 girls are in HR and Finance both, 5 boys and 8 girls are in Marketing and Finance both. 2 boys and 3 girls are enrolled in all three disciplines.

Total number of students in the college =150
The ratio of boys to girls=7:8
Number of boys = 150 x 7/15 = 70
Number of girls = 150-70 = 80.

Marketing Department : 
Number of girls = 50% of total girls= ½ x 80 = 40
Number of boys = 40% of total boys = 40/100 x 70 = 28

HR Discipline :
 Number of girls = 30% of total girls = 30/100 x 80 = 24
