a) 78                b)75                 c)71                 d) 69                e) 65
Answer: C
Explanation :
Marks obtained by C in the exam:

English = 100 x $\frac{75}{100}$ = 100

Hindi = 100 x $\frac{56}{100}$ $\frac{56}{100}$ = 56

Science = 150 x $ \frac{72}{100}$ $\frac{72}{100}$ = 108

History = 60 x $\frac{75}{100}$ = 45

Maths = 150 x $\frac{75}{100}$ = 112.5

Geography = 40 x $\frac{80}{100}$ = 32

Total marks obtained by C in the exam = 75 + 56 + 108 + 45 + 112.5 + 32 = 428.5

Total maximum marks = 100 + 100+150+60+150+40 = 600

Required percentage = $\frac{428.5}{600}$x 100% = 71.4%

2. What is the difference in the marks obtained by B in English and Maths together and the marks obtained by F in the same subjects?
a) 15                b) 17                c) 15                d) 28               e) None of these

Answer : c
Explanation :
Marks obtained by B  :

English = 100 x $\frac{88}{100}$ = 88        Maths = 150 x $\frac{88}{100}$= 132

Total marks of B in  English and Maths = 88 + 132 = 220

Marks obtained by F:

English = 100 x $\frac{85}{100}$ = 85

Maths = 150 x $\frac{74}{100}$ = 111

Total marks of F in English and Maths =  85 + 111 = 196
Required difference = 220 – 196 = 24

3.  The marks obtained by E in Geography are what per cent of the marks obtained by E in Hindi?
a) 50                b) 55                c) 45                d) 60                e) None of these
Answer : A
Solution: Marks obtained by E:
Goegraphy =  40 x $\frac{75}{100}$ = 30
Hindi = 100 x $\frac{60}{100}$ = 60
Therefore required percentage = $\frac{30}{60}$ x  100 = 50

4. What is the overall percentage of marks obtained by D in History and Geography together?
a) 73.4%          b) 72.8%          c) 70.5 %         d) 68.8 %                     e) None of these
Answer :B
Explanation :
 Marks  obtained by D:

History  = 60 x $\frac{8}{100}$= 48               Geography = 40 x $\frac{62}{100}$ = 24.8

Total marks in History and Geography = 48 + 24.8 = 72.8
Total maximum marks of History and Geography = 60 +40 = 100
 The overall percentage of marks obtained by D in History and Geography together is

= $\frac{72.8}{100}$ x 100% = 72.8%

5. What is the average makes obtained by all the students together in Science?
a) 77.16           b) 120.50         c) 118              d) 121              e)119.25
Answer: E
Explanation :
Maximum marks in science = 150

Average marks percentage of all student= $\frac{(82 + 85 + 72 + 80 + 68 + 90)}{6}$ = $\frac{477}{6}$ =79.5
Average marks in science

= 150 x $\frac{79.5}{100}$ = 119.25
